Dan has been married to his wife, Sandy, since 1990, and they have two pets, Addie, a Sheltie-Poodle mix, and Jessie, a rescued cat. They have lived in their Hampstead home for over thirty years.
Dan’s philosophy revolves around cultivating meaningful relationships with his clients rather than prioritizing sales. He believes that making fitness sessions enjoyable fosters a mutual benefit scenario, where the natural progression of sales will follow. His approach to exercise combines a strategic mix of strength training, calorie reduction, and exercises aimed at supporting joint health, along with a sensible approach to nutrition. Dan advocates that with a well-structured plan and diligent adherence, sustaining a joyful and healthy lifestyle is an achievable and rewarding endeavor.
About Mt. Airy, MD
In the 1830s, a settlement sprang up along Parr’s Ridge in what is now Mount Airy, Maryland. This settlement had no name initially. By the 1840s, the residents recognized the need for a church and school, leading to the construction of Ridge Presbyterian Church in 1846, now known as Pine Grove Chapel.
Between 1833 and 1850, the growth of the B&O Railroad, connecting Baltimore to Frederick and beyond, played a pivotal role. Tracks were laid into the village, and a station was built, contributing to the town’s prosperity.
The name “Mount Airy” has a charming origin – suggested by an Irish B&O brakeman seeking relief from the cold air on Parr’s Ridge.
The 1860s marked the Civil War period. Maryland stayed with the Union, while Mount Airy had southern sympathies. The town became a key point for transporting troops and supplies to southern battlefields.
The 1890s brought further growth, with the construction of the Episcopal, Methodist, and southern Methodist churches. In 1895, the B&O Railroad tackled the challenge of Parr’s Ridge by building an impressive tunnel, still one of the longest in the eastern U.S.
The railroad also played a crucial role in medical care, bringing children and the ill to Mount Airy for treatment at the Garrett Sanitarium.
Today, Mount Airy has evolved beyond its railroad-centric past. It’s home to residents working in the Baltimore/Washington corridor and those with deep family ties to the area, embracing both its history and a vibrant present.
